Sydney – Half Marathon

Mariana Garcia

The morning of May 3rd broke clear over Sydney Harbour — and so did something in Mariana's running.

Toeing the start line of the HOKA Runaway Sydney Half Marathon, she wasn't there to peak. This was a checkpoint, a measured effort inside a larger plan pointing toward her marathon debut. No expectations for the clock. Just miles in the legs and faith in the process.

Then the kilometres passed, the harbour shimmered, and the finish line delivered something she hadn't asked for: a personal best.

For an athlete building toward a first marathon, moments like these are rare and important — not because of the number on the watch, but because of what they confirm. The training is working. The body is responding. The bigger thing is within reach.

Now, with the half marathon behind her and Sydney Marathon weeks away, Mariana enters the most critical phase of her season. The key sessions. The long runs. The sharpening.

Every step from here leads to one finish line.
